Before doing my tests, I checked what this hype is all about. Some have declared it "insane" and "Photoshop killer", while others have termed it "over-hyped" and "inconsistent in complex scenes".

My Personal Experience When Using Nano Banana

Enough talking about what's and why's about Nano Banana. Let's get into how it actually felt when I tried it myself — the surprises and the moments that made me go "wow":

Prompt #1: Transform this cityscape from morning to nighttime with glowing lights and illuminated buildings.

Prompt #2: Make the dog look directly at the camera with its mouth open, as if happily panting or smiling.

Prompt #3: Generate a realistic male model wearing this outfit: light blue button-down shirt, beige chinos, brown leather boots, sunglasses, and a wristwatch.

Prompt #4: Young man in plaid shirt and jeans sitting on the floor of a warm, spacious library with tall wooden shelves, soft daylight from large windows, reading a map, with backpack. Keep the person and outfit unchanged.

Prompt #5: Let this man sit in the living room and enjoy the meal.

Prompt #6: Fill this empty bedroom with a modern bed, nightstands, cozy bedding, ambient lighting, decorative accents, a study table with a chair, and stylish curtains for the window.

Final Verdict: Nano Banana has both amazed and disappointed me. It amazed me with its accurate interpretation of prompts and its ability to make precise edits. 

However, I felt disappointed by the lack of "realistic" experience. Look at the results of a boy in the library or a person eating in the living room. Both of them clearly give a glimpse of AI-generated content with many unnatural textures. 

Overall, I would say that the Gemini 2.5 Flash Memory model is a lot better at making edits and producing natural-looking outputs. It maintains prompt accuracy, but its results may not always be realistic. 

Comparing Gemini 2.5 Flash Memory Model with ChatGPT Image Generator

I won't be doing justice if I don't test Nano Banana with other AI image generators before wrapping up this guide. So, I tested Nano Banana with ChatGPT image generator on exact same prompts and here are the results:

Prompt #2: Change the jacket color to red.
